A Few More Finishing Touches

Hepcat Dilemma has made another trip to The Vault to add a few more finishing touches to their new album that they started work on over the summer. Over a six-hour session the band worked on a half dozen songs with producer Bob McCutcheon, adding a few addition vocals and overdubs to flesh out the songs.

One song that received a lot of attention was “Three Card Monty” which was the last song written for the album. “Monty” was given a new arrangement that even included new lyrics. “We had been playing ‘Monty’ as an instrumental,” commented guitarist Bob Loiselle, “and it felt like it needed lyrics. Chris picked up the words quickly and delivered an inspired vocal.”

After a couple of hours of recording vocals, guitars, piano and even a flute part the band spent the rest of the session going over the songs in preparation for the final mixing. Two songs from the sessions have already been mixed and your humble correspondent can confirm that they sound amazing.

Hepcat Dilemma plans on releasing the new album next year on Rat-on-a-Stick Records. A new single, “Things No Way” was released online last May.
